egg-citing experiment!

Egg crates have always struck me as a good chocolate mould. Whenever I go and get those 6pcs box I always think that I should keep it but never did until yesterday. My friend had invited me to go have lunch with her as my post birthday treat (first week into march - I had my birthday two weeks ago - and am still getting birthday treats! ain't it great!?).

I wanted to give her something as a treat too and finally made caramel filled chocolate jewels using plastic egg crates - I washed them real good first of course!

I can't give the exact recipe for these as I just eyeballed it. But all you need is chocolate melted with a bit of shortening and whatever filling you want, the caramel I melted on a double boiler with gradual additions of milk until I achieved the desired consistency.

pour the melted chocolate into the mold and spread up to the sides
keep in the fridge for a few minutes to set

 melt the caramel as well

then pour the caramel into the center
completely cover tops with remaining melted chocolate

put back in the fridge to set, the chocolate should
come out the mold easily when tapped lightly when set

enjoy!!!

experiment success!!!

getting Stuffed!

I my house no leftovers are never wasted - we dress them up or 'reinvent' them into new dishes for the next meal, such is the case when I made these stuffed bell peppers. I had a couple of cups of  leftover rice in the fridge along with a slice of steak and mixed veggie sidings from the steak dinner we had the previous night. I wanted to make it like a java rice but didn't have the turmeric powder needed to color the rice yellow so I used the curry powder I had instead and liked the mild spicyness flavor it gave the rice. Curry Rice Stuffed Bell Peppers ingredients: - 2 large bell peppers - 2 cups of leftover rice - 1 cup cooked sliced meat of your choice - 1 cup cooked mixed veggies - chopped onion and garlic - 1 tsp or more of curry powder how to: - cut the bell pepper in half to make 'cups'  - if you are using the long big ones or if using the round ones have 4 and just cut the tops off, carefully remove the seeds - blanche the bell peppers i...
