kebab or kabob???!!

what is the correct term really? kebabs or kabobs??? I have seen this terms alternatively in restaurant menus. I guess they mean the same thing, in any case I prefer using kebabs because the other term just sound like... you get what I mean! haha!

In any case, the other day I just put together a simple shrimp dish made from left over shrimps that I had frozen from two or three days prior. I had about a quarter kilo left and it seemed that it won't be enough for a decent filling meal. I finally decided to make kebabs using tomatoes, onion and bell pepper (some of my veggie staple, along with carrots and potatoes!).

I remembered how good grilled onion and tomatoes are with lamb kebabs but feeling lazy to grill just a few sticks of kebab, I decided to just pan fry it.

Shrimp kebabs
Ingredients:
1/4 kilo large shrimps, shelled and deveined
3-4 peeled onions, quartered
1 bell pepper, cut into cubes
a bunch of cherry tomatoes
salt and pepper to taste

How to:
- skewer shrimps and veggies alternately
- season with salt and pepper
- heat 2-3 tbsp olive oil in a pan
- pan fry shrimp skewers on both sides for 5-7 minutes or until shrimp changes color and is not translucent anymore

It turned out good, if I may say so! who would have suspected that these are just left over shrimps?!?! it looked like a gourmet meal to me!!

pig-out thursdays

It has become our habit to cook a special menu every thursday for dinner. As the last working of the week (where I am currently based at least) we sort of 'celebrate' and welcome the weekend with a good dinner. Sometimes we go out and eat but with the changing work schedule of my brother I just cooke and usually make something akin to restaurant fare and tonight I made honey-garlic baked ribs with a side of coleslaw and onion rings. Honey-Garlic Baked Ribs ingredients: - a slab of your choice of ribs - olive oil - minced garlic - brown sugar - salt and pepper *the amount of garlic, olive oil and brown sugar will depend on how big your slab of meat is how to: -  season the ribs with a bit of salt and pepper - rub the minced garlic all around the ribs and sprinkle more on top - drizzle with olive oil - sprinkle with brown sugar - bake loosely covered with foil of 30 minutes in a 250F oven and broil for another 15 minutes in a 150F oven until top is browned. ...
