Akemashite Omedetou!!!!

New Year's food tradition in our family has always been to serve round and sticky food items. Round shapes represent money and sticky food items is said to keep the bond of the family tight and so this year I made (among other things) california maki rolls - it Is made with sticky Japanese rice and is round! perfect to welcome 2012!!!

Old fashioned sweet and sour recipes that I know includes pineapple chunks, I have no problem with fruit on main course dishes but my picky brother doesn't like fruits in his so I tweaked this recipe for sweet and sour chicken that I found. No fruits just veggies. Baked Sweet and Sour Chicken ingredients: - 2 to 3 boneless chicken breasts cubed into bite size pieces - salt and pepper to taste - cornstarch - 1 bell pepper julienned - 1 medium white onion julienned - 1 medium carrot julienned for the sauce - 3/4 cup sugar - 4 tbs ketchup - 1/2 cup distilled white vinegar - 1 tbs soy sauce - 1 tsp garlic salt how to: - season the chicken cubes with salt and pepper - dredge in cornstarch - flash fry until golden brown, trasfer to a baking dish - stir fry veggies iuntil crisp tender - whisk all sauce ingredients in a bowl and pour oven chicken - bake in a 325 degree oven for 20-30 minutes or until chicken is cooked through mixing in the veggies halfway...

make mornings extra special with French toast! I am up for anything that gives me an excuse to have something akin to dessert for every meal of the day, and French toast is one of my go to breakfast treats! You can fill it with cream cheese and blueberries; peanut butter and jam; chocolate - the options are endless! Ingredients: - 1 egg - 1 cup milk - 1 tsp vanilla - 1/2 tsp cinnamon - bread slices how to: - beat egg, milk, vanilla and cinnamon in a shallow dish - dip bread slices in egg mixture until coated on both sides - melt butter in a skillet and cook bread slices until browned on both sides. - serve and enjoy!
